Wok, Manama Located at Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea and Spa, Wok serves authentically Vietnamese cuisine using the freshest ingredients, and a wide variety of distinctive seasonings, herbs, and spices. The unique restaurant takes a step back in time to the orient of old, with wooden décor and a quiet, soft atmosphere with gentle music playing. In the kitchen, a dedicated team of Vietnamese chefs prepare an exquisite selection of authentic cuisine. The typical style of dining at Wok is ‘family style’, where a number of dishes are placed in the centre of the table and shared. The cuisine is Vietnamese ‘Traditional Hue Cuisine’, which Vietnamese people regard as the best cuisine in the country. Hue culinary tradition pays much attention to aestheticism and harmony among ingredients, and the decoration and colour of the food, in order to create a gastronomic work of art.
Mr Minh Duong (Bruce) is the Chef de Cuisine at Wok. After studying at the Hanoi Tourism College, Bruce has worked for several 5 star hotels in Hanoi, including Sofitel Plaza before moving to Macau in 2011. Wok boasts a trendy yet genuinely Asian atmosphere in all aspects. It has a perfect combination of stones and wood in the décor, as well as art and craftworks that reflect the true Asian culture and hospitality. The interior design is exquisite; with handpainted walls so detailed they look like wallpaper. Wok provides seating on a terrace overlooking the pool and the sea as well as an indoor area, including two private dining rooms. Diners can watch the chefs cook steaming bowls of Southeast Asian cuisine in a show kitchen, which can be viewed from the main dining area. www.sofitel.com
